Burial of Lotus Sutra Time Capsule

After Sunday service on March 9, Reverend Kanai placed the sacred items collected from the membership into a “time capsule”. After sealing the capsule and blessing it, the members who were present gathered in the front garden where a hole had been dug for the erection of an Odaimoku monument. Here the capsule was lowered into the ground during a ceremony officiated by the reverend. The members present were given an opportunity to toss some soil onto the time capsule, thus participating in its burial.

The Odaimoku monument stands guard over the capsule, concealing it until its unearthing by a future generation.
